Filmmaker Steven Spielberg has dropped out of directing Bradley Cooper’s new movie about a real-life U.S. war hero. Cooper will play decorated Navy Seal Chris Kyle in American Sniper, but the project is now in need of a new director after Spielberg pulled out due to budget issues, according to Deadline.com.
Cooper is reportedly still involved in the movie.
This is the second film this year (13) Spielberg has dropped – the Lincoln director was previously attached to Harvey, the adaptation of the Mary Chase Pulitzer Prize-winning play, but pulled out after it proved too hard to cast.
