Sufjan Stevens working on new ballet

Singer/songwriter Sufjan Stevens is heading back to the New York City Ballet to compose an orchestral score for a new production.
The Oscar-nominated Mystery of Love musician has reteamed with choreographer and designer Justin Peck to work on the project, which is currently titled New Peck 1.
The piece will debut in January, 2019 and open a three-part show, featuring George Balanchine’s Symphony in Three Movements and The Times Are Racing, another original Peck creation, which includes music by electronic artist Dan Deacon.
Stevens and Peck have previously worked together on two other ballets – first in 2014 for Everything Must Go, and again last year (17) for The Decalogue. Both productions were performed by the New York City Ballet.
