Suge Knight and Katt Williams to stand trial for felony robbery charges

Rap mogul Marion ‘Suge’ Knight and comedian Katt Williams have been ordered to stand trial for robbery relating to a 2014 altercation with a paparazzo.
The troubled stars stand accused of attempting to snatch Leslie Redden’s camera during an incident outside a recording studio in Beverly Hills, California last year (14), days after Knight was shot at a party.
They were each slapped with a felony robbery count, while Knight also allegedly made criminal threats against the woman during the reported attack. They have both pleaded not guilty.
The case has been delayed multiple times in recent months as Death Row Records co-founder Knight continues to struggle with health complications as a result of the shooting incident, but he was back in Los Angeles Superior Court on Tuesday (13Oct15).
During the hearing, defence lawyers argued that Knight and Williams had only taken issue with Redden as they did not want her snapping pictures of Knight’s young son, who had been with them that night, but Judge Ronald Coen ruled there is enough evidence for the pair to stand trial.
The stars will be re-arraigned on the charges on 27 October (15), while a trial date has yet to be set.
Knight could face 30 years to life in prison if convicted, due to a previous conviction for assault with a deadly weapon, while Williams is looking at up to seven years behind bars.
Knight remains in custody on $10 million (£6.25 million) bail as he faces separate charges of murder and attempted murder following a fatal hit-and-run accident on a California film set in January (15). He is also heading to trial for those accusations, to which he has pleaded not guilty, and is due back in court for that case on 11 December (15).
