Tamela Mann is a seven-time winner at gospel awards

Singer/actress Tamela Mann fought back tears the 29th annual Stellar Gospel Music Awards on Saturday night (18Jan14) after taking home seven prizes, including the Artist of the Year honour. The star also claimed the titles of Female Vocalist of the Year and CD of the Year for her album Best Days, and she couldn’t help but grow emotional as she accepted the accolades.
Taking to the stage in Nashville, Tennessee, a tearful Mann said, “Hallelujah! Thank you, Jesus. I just love everybody, and I don’t mind getting ugly for the Lord. This is for the Lord.”
Meanwhile, she celebrated again as songwriter Kirk Franklin was feted with Song of the Year for penning her hit Take Me to the King.
Tye Tribbett walked away as the Male Vocalist of the Year, while newcomer Tasha Cobb won New Artist of the Year and Group/Duo of the Year went to Anthony Brown and therAPY.
Hezekiah Walker was honoured with a lifetime achievement award, and he shared the Choir of the Year prize with the Love Fellowship Choir.
