Poppy Delevingne’s husband landed an unexpected cameo in Kingsman: The Golden Circle after leading man Taron Egerton declined to shoot a controversial sex scene with the model-turned-actress.

Egerton reprises his role as spy Eggsy Unwin in the sequel to 2014’s Kingsman: The Secret Service, and part of the plot requires Unwin to get intimate with his mission target, Clara, played by Poppy, to plant a tracking device in her genitals.

However, the 27-year-old reveals he took issue with the explicit shoot, and director Matthew Vaughn ended up recruiting Poppy’s real-life partner, James Cook, to perform the dirty deed on camera.

“It was a day that I was anxious about…,” Taron tells ScreenRant.com. “I said to Matthew, ‘I’m not comfortable doing this.’ So it’s not my hand – it’s Poppy’s husband’s hand.”

The Brit adds, “He saved the day. He saved the world.”

The raunchy scene received mixed responses from audiences, but the actor insists dabbling with a little controversy is all part of Vaughn’s filmmaking style.

“It’s what Matthew does, it’s his signature thing,” Taron continues. “He likes to do something that shocks. In Kick-Ass it was Chloe Grace Moretz saying the C-word, in Kingsman 1 it was the bum shot of the Swedish princess, and in this one it’s the thing (sex scene). And, you know, it’s not to everyone’s tastes, but it certainly gets people talking.”

Kingsman: The Golden Circle, which also stars Colin Firth, Channing Tatum, Halle Berry, and Julianne Moore, has already proved to be popular with film fans after opening at the top of the American box office over the weekend (22-24Sep17) with a $39 million debut, pushing its global gross to $100.2 million. The action comedy cost $104 million to make.
