Elton John and Taron Egerton were the toast of the Cannes Film Festival on Thursday night (May 16, 2019) as they performed a duet after the premiere of new biopic Rocketman.
Reports suggested the two would be teaming up for a musical number but neither Elton nor Taron would talk about the stunt as they promoted the film, in which Egerton portrays the rock icon, earlier in the day.
But the Carlton Beach bash was hardly a surprise as photos of a stage set up leaked online hours before the gig.
Egerton kicked off a performance of the film’s title track as Elton joined him.
The young actor re-recorded Elton’s classic songs for the film’s soundtrack and on Thursday morning, he and the I’m Still Standing singer released a new duet, (I’m Gonna) Love Me Again.
