Taryn Manning Upset About Budget SAG Awards Gown

Taryn Manning is upset her stylist went public about her bargain Screen Actors Guild gown.

Fashion bloggers have praised the Orange is the New Black star for wearing an affordable $200 (GBP140) Adrianna Papell boatneck A-line ballgown on the red carpet at the Shrine Auditorium on Sunday (21Jan18), but Taryn isn’t happy – because she had no idea she was wearing a cheaper outfit than her castmates and peers.

“It’s bad for the stylist to tell me that,” she tells TMZ, insisting the best thing her fashion aide could have done was keep the fact she’d saved some cash to herself. “Nothing is cool about it, but it still sucks for me.”

And Taryn even thinks designer Papell should be paying her for the publicity: “The designer got a lot of press; she should be paying me a lot of money.”

Asked why she was so upset about something she’s getting a lot of good press for, Taryn told the outlet, “I wanna be in, like, a superstar gown.”

She’s also annoyed that her classic dress wasn’t one-of-a-kind – the Papell High-Low Black Ball Gown, which she paired with white ankle-strap Aquazzura pumps and jewelry by Kimberly McDonald and Gabriel NY, is widely available at Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s stores across America.

The item comes in sizes two to 16 and is also available in royal blue.

Ironically, before Taryn learned the gown was not high fashion she loved it, even posting a shot of herself on the red carpet at the SAG Awards and thanking Papell in the caption.
