Thalia upset with reports she’s a Donald Trump supporter

Mexican pop star Thalia has blasted reports suggesting she is rooting for controversial property tycoon-turned-politician Donald Trump in the U.S. election.
The singer and her husband, New York-born music mogul Tommy Mottola, have previously been pictured socialising with billionaire Trump and his family at various events, but Thalia has now spoken out to silence suggestions she is supporting the Republican, who has caused controversy time and time again with offensive comments about illegal Mexican immigrants, Muslims, and women, among others.
In a statement posted on Facebook on Wednesday (26Oct16), Thalia wrote: “I want to be 100 percent clear about this: I am not a supporter and never would be a supporter of Donald Trump. I have never been a supporter of his campaign, or anyone for that matter, who has such bad feelings and ill-fated intentions toward my country.”
“I am a Mexican woman, and very proud of it,” she continued. “Anyone who speaks of my people in that way offends me and, by the way, everyone in my country as well. Once again, I would like to emphasize that I have not and will never be a supporter of Donald Trump.”
Thalia’s comments mark the first time she has publicly spoken out about a U.S. presidential candidate, although she did contribute vocals to Emilio Estefan’s star-studded We Are All Mexican song last year (15), which was recorded and released following Trump’s campaign launch, during which he branded all illegal immigrants from Mexico “rapists” and criminals.
Americans head to the polls on 8 November (16), when Trump will face off against his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton.
