The Beatles opening Sgt. Pepper’s pop-up shop in Liverpool

The Beatles are celebrating the 50th anniversary of their Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band album by opening a pop-up shop in their native Liverpool, England.
The temporary store in Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, John Lennon and George Harrison’s hometown was announced on the group’s official Twitter page on Wednesday (17May17). It will be open for just over two weeks from 25 May.
“Official Sgt Pepper Pop Up Shop Coming Soon! May 25th – June 11th. 1 Mathew Street, Liverpool,” the message read.
The Matthew Street site of the shop is just metres away from the Cavern Club, the famous Liverpool venue where the Fab Four began their rise to fame.
Another tweet promised fans they would be able to buy “exclusive products” at the pop-up shop, including a special 50th anniversary edition of their iconic album.
Liverpool will be home to a three-week festival, titled Sgt Pepper at 50: Heading for Home, which celebrates the 50th anniversary of the record’s 1 June 1967 release. Artists, musicians, filmmakers and fans will descend on the city between 25 May to 16 June for a series of arts events celebrating many of the album’s iconic tracks.
