The movie, in which the actress played then-real-life-lover Vince Vaughn’s girlfriend, was one of the first she signed on for after she and Pitt ended their marriage – and she admits the shoot was therapeutic.
Talking about the decision to take on the film in a taped interview with Inside the Actors Studio host James Lipton, she says, “I was slightly familiar on the topic and the issue. It was a great way to sort of exorcise (feelings).”
She tells Lipton it was clear that the movie’s producers were hesitant about approaching her for the project, considering her recent heartbreak – but she was game.
She adds, “I was like, ‘Why not? Turn the page, let’s move on.'”
