“The Cell” Premiere

CENTURY CITY, August 16, 2000 — Divas must travel in packs. Two of Hollywood’s legendary stars, Diana Ross and Cher, along with one diva in the making, raised the roof at the West Coast premiere of “The Cell.” No one could possibly upstage the Latin sensation, especially at her own premiere. But the truly divine certainly gave it a good whirl.

Ladies’ night continued on with Keanu Reeves’ hottest on-screen squeeze, Brooke Langton, and the newly dyed and wed Jenny McCarthy. “I’m a hermit, if you can believe it. I only go to the movie premieres if I’m in it,” joked McCarthy.

“This one looked really interesting to me. It looked like a mind trip and I thought it would be a great movie if you’re drunk.”

In “The Cell,” Jennifer Lopez stars as a child therapist who delves into the mind of a serial killer (Vincent D’Onofrio) in the hopes of saving his latest victim (Tara Subkoff). Vince Vaughn (“Swingers”) also takes a turn at hero in director Tarsem Singh’s psychological thriller.

“Whatever people think, they’re going definitely say they’ve never seen anything like it. It’s amazing visually, stunning and just something I’m proud that i was in,” said Lopez.

The crowd had already gone mad with the appearance of Lopez, until the tallest stars in Hollywood, Vaughn and D’Onofrio, took the red carpet — finally filling the male quota for the evening.

The film also stars Jake Weber, Marianne Jean-Baptiste and Gerry Becker. “The Cell” hits theaters Aug. 18.
