A gunman killed 12 people and injured 58 after opening fire in a packed cinema in Aurora, near Denver, during a midnight screening of the new Batman blockbuster.
Colorado governor John Hickenlooper has set up a fund to help the victims and their families at Givingfirst.org, and bosses at Warner Bros., the studio behind the movie, have agreed to make a “substantial” donation, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The news comes amid reports one of the victims of the shooting is planning to file a lawsuit over the atrocity.
Torrence Brown, Jr. was in the theatre when the gunman opened fire, and saw his best friend A.J. Boik killed by a shot to the chest, and he now reportedly plans to sue the owners of the cinema, as well Warner Bros., over the incident, according to TMZ.com.
