The Film Society paid tribute to actress Cate Blanchett on Wednesday (02Oct13) for her contribution to movie culture. Blanchett, who is tipped for an Oscar in 2014 for her role in Blue Jasmine, accepted the special honour at a Gala Tribute event at the Alice Tully Hall in New York’s Lincoln Centre as part of the New York Film Festival.
Actor Ralph Fiennes is due to accept a similar honour on 9 October (13).
The Film Society said in a statement that Blanchett and Fiennes were among actors “who have made significant artistic contributions to film culture in the past and will continue to do so in the future”.
