The Greatest Showman matches Adele’s U.K. album chart record

The film soundtrack to The Greatest Showman has tied Adele’s record for the longest run at the top of the U.K. albums chart this century.
The British soul superstar’s 21 spent 11 consecutive weeks on top in 2011 – the most by any artist in more than 30 years – and now the soundtrack, which features Hugh Jackman as showman P.T. Barnum, has matched the feat.
After topping Friday’s (23Mar18) rundown, the album is now only seven days away from matching the 12 weeks Bob Marley and The Wailers’ Legend managed at number one in 1984.
Another record with mammoth sales, Ed Sheeran’s ÷ (divide) – which has remained in the top five for more than a year, stays at two, ahead of controversial U.S. rapper XXXTentacion, who enters the chart at three with his quizzically named album, ?.
Dua Lipa’s self-titled debut album rises to four, while In Your Own Sweet Time, the new release from British indie rockers The Fratellis, completes the top five.
There’s also no change at the top of the singles chart, as Drake’s God’s Plan logs a ninth week at number one. Also staying put are Rudimental, Jess Glynne, Dan Caplen and Macklemore’s collaboration These Days at two, Portugal. The Man’s pop anthem Feel It Still at three, and Marshmello and Anne-Marie’s Friends in fourth spot. Climbing into the top five is George Ezra’s new single Paradise.
