The Hitman’s Bodyguard sinks Dunkirk at U.K. box office

Action-comedy The Hitman’s Bodyguard has finally shot down Dunkirk from the top of the U.K. box office chart.
The movie, which stars Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson as a bodyguard and an assassin who must team up to survive, ended Christopher Nolan’s Second World War epic’s four weeks at the summit last weekend (18-20Aug17).
Patrick Hughes’ film only narrowly won the box office battle however, as its earnings of $2.55 million (£1.98 million) edged Dunkirk into second place with $2.48 million (£1.92 million).
Horror spin-off Annabelle: Creation is the weekend’s third most popular film. The fourth instalment in The Conjuring franchise made $1.53 million (£1.19 million).
At four is The Emoji Movie with $1.3 million (£1 million), while rounding out the top five is The Dark Tower with $1.17 million (£906,000).
