The National and Billy Bragg to perform charity shows in people’s homes

The National, Billy Bragg, and James Morrison are among the musicians set to perform intimate shows in people’s houses worldwide to raise awareness about the global refugee crisis.
KT Tunstall, Local Natives, Jessie Ware, Hot Chip, Lianne La Havas, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Rudimental, Gregory Porter, Grouplove, and Radiohead producer and musician Nigel Godrich will also take part in the inaugural Give a Home concert series, which will feature a total of 1,000 artists playing in more than 60 countries on 20 September (17).
The event is being organised by officials at human rights non-profit Amnesty International and music company Sofar Sounds, with each show featuring two or three performers and talks from local activists.
“Music and art have always been powerful partners to the cause of justice because they share an ability to stir something deep within us,” Salil Shetty, secretary general of Amnesty International, shared in a statement to Billboard.com. “They help us to look beyond borders and see what unites us. The shows will be an opportunity to reflect on our shared humanity and strengthen our resolve to tackle this unprecedented humanitarian challenge.”
The gigs will all be live-streamed on VICE and Facebook.
