The Rock crushes competition at U.K. box office with San Andreas

Wrestler-turned-actor DWAYNE ‘THE ROCK’ JOHNSON has demolished the competition at the U.K. box office by storming to the top of the chart with his new disaster movie SAN ANDREAS in its opening weekend (29-31May15).
The Fast Five star plays a helicopter rescue pilot caught up in a major earthquake in the new blockbuster, which rocketed to the number one spot in Britain after taking $7.4 million (£4.6 million) during its first three days on release.
San Andreas easily out-sold its nearest rival, previous chart-topper Pitch Perfect 2, which trailed at two with $3 million (£1.9 million).
Mad Max: Fury Road placed third with $2.9 million (£1.8 million), with Tomorrowland and Avengers: Age Of Ultron rounding out the top five in fourth and fifth place, respectively.
