Former MTV reality star Mike Sorrentino has pleaded not guilty to the latest charges in his ongoing tax fraud case.

The Jersey Shore regular, also known as The Situation, had already been indicted on tax evasion charges in 2014 for allegedly filing fraudulent paperwork to hide his debts and almost $9 million in earnings with the Internal Revenue Service over a three-year period.

Earlier this month (Apr17), he was also slapped with additional federal charges of tax evasion and structuring, and falsifying records to avoid detection of assets.

He appeared in court in Newark, New Jersey on Monday (17Apr17) to protest his innocence in the nine counts, and after the hearing, his attorney Henry E. Klingeman insisted his client had done nothing wrong.

“This is a complicated case – Michael is not a complicated person,” he told reporters, claiming Sorrentino had relied on accountants to sort out his taxes.

The 34-year-old faces a lengthy jail term if found guilty of the charges.

His brother, Marc Sorrentino, is facing similar counts in the same case.
