Hugh Jackman’s The Wolverine has clawed its way to the top of the U.K. box office. The action movie has triumphed in the battle of the blockbusters with weekend (26-28Jul13) takings of $7 million (£4.7 million), pushing last week’s leader Monsters University ($4.6 million/£3.1 million) into second place.
Animated comedy sequel Despicable Me 2 remains in third place with takings of $3.1 million (£2.08 million), and Simon Pegg’s comedy The World’s End drops two places to four, with $2.1 million (£1.4 million).
Now You See Me rounds out the top five for the second week in a row with $1.3 million (£880,000).
