Titanic sinks The Hunger Games

Audiences flocked to see the 3D re-release of the 1997 epic, which earned $4.5 million (£2.8 million) over the Easter holiday weekend (07-08Apr12).

The film’s release marked the 100 year anniversary of the doomed liner’s voyage, and when added to its original haul it has now earned $112 million (£70 million) in the U.K. alone.

Box office smash The Hunger Games dropped to second place after taking $3.7 million (£2.4 million), narrowly seeing off competition from fairytale fantasy Mirror Mirror.
