An injury Tom Cruise sustained while performing a stunt for the new Mission: Impossible movie in London on Sunday (13Aug17) has reportedly shut down production for nine weeks.

Bosses at Paramount and Skydance have scrapped filming to allow Cruise’s feet and ankles to heal.

It’s claimed the star suffered a broken foot or ankle when he slammed into a wall after mistiming a building jump stunt, which was captured on camera by a WENN photographer.

The movie star clambered to his feet and limped for a few yards before collapsing on a rooftop as on-set safety officials came to his aid.

Sources tell Deadline Tom will be getting a final verdict about his recovery time from a doctor on Wednesday (16Aug17).

Mission: Impossible 6 director Christopher McQuarrie recently revealed his leading man will perform a number of death-defying stunts in the blockbuster.

Mission: Impossible fans have come to expect at least one seriously impressive action sequence from Cruise in instalments of the film franchise – in 2011’s Ghost Protocol the actor climbed to the top of Dubai’s sky-rise Burj Khalifa tower – the tallest building in the world – and in 2015’s Rogue Nation, he strapped himself to an airplane during take-off.

McQuarrie, Cruise and the cast and crew have already shot scenes in France and New Zealand.
The new film, which also features Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Henry Cavill, Rebecca Ferguson, Angela Bassett, and Alec Baldwin, could miss its planned summer, 2018 release date as a result of the reported production shut down, with some insiders suggesting the film will now hit cinemas at Christmas, 2018.
