Tom Hardy’s Bond odds slashed

Tom Hardy is the new favourite to play James Bond.
The English actor has been made the bookies’ favourite after he became a real life action hero on Sunday (23Apr17) when he caught a moped thief near his home in Richmond, south west London.
His odds were slashed from 6/1 outsider to 6/4 favourite just hours after he made the citizen’s arrest, meaning he’s now the frontrunner to replace Daniel Craig when he hangs up his 007 tuxedo.
British-based bookmakers Ladbrokes reported a flurry of votes for Tom, which saw him overtake Idris Elba and Michael Fassbender in the race to become Bond.
“We’ve had a rush of money on Tom Hardy and not a penny on anyone else since his have-a-go heroics – he’s our new clear favourite,” Ladbrokes spokesman David Williams told The Sun.
“Fans have been betting on the role going to a real life action hero. It’s been one-way traffic.”
Fellow U.K. bookmaker Williams Hill also cut Taboo actor Tom’s odds, making him 3/1, though he was still behind Idris with their punters.
Eye witnesses saw Tom fly into “superhero mode” as he chased two youths through Richmond on a suspected stolen moped. The duo jumped a red light before crashing into a Mercedes, with one being caught instantly and the other making a run for it.
The 39-year-old Oscar-nominee pursued him on foot and eventually caught him and frisked him for weapons before police arrived.
“It was mental – like he’d switched to superhero mode in an action movie. Two boys on the (stolen) moped had jumped a red light and smashed into a car,” passer by Arun Pullen told The Sun newspaper. “Tom must have been walking down the road. He went off like a shot in pursuit and looked furious.”
Current Bond Daniel has not yet stated if he’ll be back for another spy flick.
