Tom Hiddleston and Elizabeth Olsen to reprise Avengers roles for live-action series – report

Disney bosses are developing a variety of stand-alone live-action series to continue the stories of Avengers characters like Tom Hiddleston’s Loki and Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch.
The shows are designed to be an expansion of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), and according to Variety, studio officials are keen to have the same actors reprise their movie roles for the TV ventures, which will be exclusive to Disney’s own streaming platform.
Both Hiddleston and Olsen are expected to star in each of the limited series centering on their superheroes, although it’s not clear if the projects will be prequels or linked to the storyline in the forthcoming sequel to this year’s (18) blockbuster, Avengers: Infinity War, in which a number of key characters appeared to have been wiped out by supervillain Thanos.
Avengers 4 is set for release in May (19), while the Disney streaming service is due to launch in late 2019.
The new Marvel shows aren’t the only big projects in development for the Disney platform – studio chiefs are also working on a number of Star Wars spin-offs, including a live-action series from Iron Man director/actor Jon Favreau.
