Tomasz Kot lands Nikola Tesla role in new biopic

Cold War actor Tomasz Kot is stepping into the shoes of legendary inventor Nikola Tesla for a new biopic.
The Polish star will take on the titular role in Nikola, which will centre on one of the Serbian-American futurist’s last big experiments as he desperately attempts to achieve his scientific dreams, all while struggling financially and dealing with his own personal issues, reports
Nikola will based on a screenplay penned by filmmaker Anand Tucker, with production set to get underway this autumn (19).
“Nikola Tesla was one of the most influential and important minds at the dawn of 20th century, and in many ways created our modern world, with its electric cars, instant connectivity through the Internet, and global communication,” Tucker shares in a statement.
“He was also a deeply complex and extraordinary human being. Tomasz is an exquisite actor, and when I saw his extraordinary performance in Cold War there was no doubt in my mind as to who should play Tesla.”
Kot is the latest actor to tackle the role – Ethan Hawke is also starring as the genius in director Michael Almereyda’s upcoming movie Tesla, while Nicholas Hoult portrayed the inventor in 2017’s The Current War.
Late rocker/actor David Bowie also played Tesla in The Prestige, and Petar Bozovic was cast as the scientist in Orson Welles’ 1980 movie The Secret Life of Nikola Tesla.
