“Tomb Raider” bootlegged on the Web

Although Tomb Raider, the movie version of the popular video game, is a month away from release, bootleg copies are already circulating on the Internet, the BBC reported Sunday, citing Internet veterans who trade movies online. A Paramount spokesman commented, “It would not surprise me that a version of it may have found its way on to the web.” The number of copies being downloaded has been limited by the fact that it takes nearly 12 hours to copy an average-length video on a PC, the BBC observed. A spokesman for the Federation Against Copyright Theft (FACT) noted, however, that a bigger problem is that people are now ordering illegally copied movies via the Internet, most of them from Asia.
