Tori Spelling summoned to court over outstanding bank loan

Actress Tori Spelling has been ordered to appear in court after failing to pay a $220,000 (£166,200) default judgment over an unpaid loan.
The former Beverly Hills, 90210 star and her husband Dean McDermott were sued by bosses at City National Bank last year (16) for allegedly defaulting on payments for a $400,000 (£302,140) loan taken out several years ago.
They demanded the couple hand over the balance of the funds, plus interest and late charges, as well as money reportedly overdrawn from the actors’ account.
A Los Angeles judge ruled in the bank officials’ favour in May (17) after Spelling and McDermott apparently ignored their opportunity to respond to the suit.
Now, according to TheBlast.com, Spelling has been summoned to court early next year (18) for an examination of her finances.
Lawyers for City National Bank are demanding she “furnish information to aid in enforcement of a money judgement,” which will require Spelling to list all of her assets to determine what can be seized to settle the outstanding funds.
If the actress skips the hearing, she could be arrested for contempt of court.
It’s the latest money woe for the parents-of-five, who have also faced tax bills and legal action from American Express executives after failing to pay off their credit card debts.
