Yara Shahidi is joined by her mother Keri in a special new Tory Burch campaign.
In American designer Tory’s To Mom With Love short film, the mother and daughter pairing show off some of the label’s top spring looks, including Tory Sport tracksuits, the Christie dress, and the Miller sandal.
“Tory Burch has used her talent and brand to empower women and give to communities around her. My mama and I naturally align on the importance of supporting women, but we also love and live in her clothes,” Yara said in a statement of the Mother’s Day campaign.
The two-minute clip was shot in Los Angeles by Margaret Zhang, and sees Grown-ish star Yara and her mother at home, talking about a podcast the actress had listened to about activism, Yara’s future plans and motherhood, among other topics.
“I admire her confidence, her laser focus, and her investment in the people around her,” Yara shared of her mother. “She has always told me ‘we rise together.'”
Earlier this week, at her first-ever Embrace Ambition Summit in New York, Tory called the 18-year-old actress “the voice of her generation”, with Yara joining her on stage for a wide-ranging conversation.
As Mother’s Day approaches in America, on 13 May (18), Keri, who also has two sons, Sayeed and Ehsan with photographer spouse Afshin, shared what her plans were.
“We usually spend a relaxing day together – a tasty breakfast at home with all of my favourite dishes and then a stroll through a museum,” she smiled. “But I never know what my family is going to add to the festivities. Last year they came downstairs, one by one, with my photo on custom made T-shirts that they wore all day.”
