Transformers: The Last Knight Leads Razzie Nominees

Transformers: The Last Knight and Fifty Shades Darker are the top contenders to be named worst movie of 2017 at the upcoming Golden Raspberry Awards.

Michael Bay’s science-fiction sequel has nine nominations for the awards, which is dubbed ‘the Razzies’ and held alongside the Oscars each year to call out the worst films of the past 12 months.

The fifth installment in the Transformers franchise is up for dubious honors including Worst Picture, Worst Remake, Rip-Off, or Sequel, and Worst Screenplay – with Bay also nominated for Worst Director.

Its cast also received a slew of nominations, with Mark Wahlberg receiving a nod for Worst Actor, and Josh Duhamel, Anthony Hopkins and Laura Haddock all chosen in supporting acting categories.

Joining Transformers as a Worst Picture nominee is Fifty Shades Darker, the second film in E.L. James’ erotic thriller franchise. It received eight nominations in total, with its stars Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson up for Worst Actor and Actress respectively.

The other Worst Picture nominees are The Emoji Movie, Baywatch and Tom Cruise’s remake of The Mummy.

Cruise’s performance in the critically-panned reboot of the Egyptian monster movies also saw him named among the worst leading actors of the year, with Johnny Depp (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales) and Zac Efron (Baywatch), completing the roll of dishonor for male actors.

Tyler Perry was nominated for Worst Actress for his drag act in Boo! 2 A Madea Halloween alongside Dakota, Katherine Heigl (Unforgettable), Jennifer Lawrence, (Mother!), and Emma Watson (The Circle).

Darren Aronofsky’s divisive thriller Mother! earned him a Worst Director nod alongside Bay, James Foley (Fifty Shades Darker), Alex Kurtzman (The Mummy) and Anthony Leonidis (The Emoji Movie).
