Transformers to take over Chicago

Director Michael Bay is currently working on the third movie in the robot action series, which stars Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox’s replacement, model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.

Most of the picture has been shot in California, but teams are now preparing to transfer the action to Chicago and a letter sent out to offices and residents close to the filming location has revealed their plans for the day.

Producers will shut off streets around the east side of the city on Sunday morning (11Jul10) for a series of elaborate stunts, with skydivers parachuting out of helicopters at low altitudes and landing in the Lake Shore East Park.

The letter, sent by DW Studios Productions LLC and obtained by, reads, “One of the scenes will involve stuntmen skydiving from helicopters and deploying parachutes at low altitudes while being filmed from a second helicopter… Due to the nature of this activity, both vehicles and pedestrians underneath the path of the skydivers will be restricted for safety… During the filming the Chicago Police Department will be onsite to perform this control of vehicular and pedestrian traffic…

“The Lake Shore East Park is the proposed landing zone for the skydivers. Areas of the park and the surrounding streets and sidewalk will be subject to intermittent closures during the actual jumps.”
