Tye Sheridan caught up in sports car smash-up en route to X-Men audition

Young actor Tye Sheridan feared he’d blown his chances of landing a dream role in the new X-Men movie after driving a friend’s Porsche into the back of a Jaguar on his way to the audition.
The 19-year-old was on the 405 freeway in Los Angeles, racing to get to the X-Men: Apocalypse try-out on time when he ran into traffic and rear-ended another motorist driving an expensive Jag.
“I’m on the 405 going south and there’s just so much traffic, bumper to bumper, and I’m thinking I’m going to be late,” Tye tells Hero magazine. “I’ve been in the car an hour, running the lines in my head, I’m kinda out of it… I snap back into reality (and) I just f**king rear-ended someone.
“I step out of the car and this guy is driving a Jaguar; he gets out and he’s like, ‘What the f**k?’ I thought, ‘This is so bad, I’m going to miss my audition, I just blew X-Men, it’s gone…'”
But, luckily for the teenager, the other motorist “ended up being super cool” and after exchanging insurance details, Tye was able to get back on the road and get to his audition just in time.
“I can’t remember what it (audition) was like, what I did, how I did, and I walk out going, ‘Dude, I just blew that,'” he recalls, “and then I get a call about the audition, like, ‘Hey, they want you to read again’. I’m like, ‘No way!'”
Tye was cast as Scott Summers/Cyclops in the latest X-Men film and he’ll appear in the blockbuster alongside the likes of Jennifer Lawrence, Hugh Jackman, Sophie Turner, Nicholas Hoult, and James McAvoy.
