Tyrese Gibson‘s new wife has been identified as a high-earning social worker.
The Fast & Furious star took to social media on Tuesday (28Feb17) to reveal he had married in secret, posting a slideshow video featuring snapshots of him and his blushing bride, who wore baby pink for their Valentine’s Day (14Feb17) ceremony.
He didn’t name his mystery lady but now editors at TMZ have uncovered her identity, revealing his bride as New Jersey native Samantha Lee, who has a master’s degree in social work from the University of Georgia.
She’s put her education to good use too as the outlet claims she’s been involved in sex and human trafficking cases, as well as counselling prison inmates and handling cases for the Division of Family and Children Services in Georgia.
TMZ also reports Samantha, who is of Ecuadorian, Jamaican and African-American heritage, is well-paid and “lives comfortably” on a sizable salary thanks to her skills.
Fans criticised Tyrese for dubbing his new spouse his “black queen” when revealing he’d walked down the aisle, with many followers questioning her background and insisting she “isn’t black”.
Tyrese, 38, couldn’t contain his excitement at the news earlier this week and teased his announcement by reposting a Facebook message he previously wrote to his “wife of the future”. In it, he called himself a king seeking his queen and listed the qualities he hoped to find in his other half.
“I’m talking a REAL WOMAN… Not just a pretty face… A classy, sophisticated women with an angel heart…” he added.
This marks the actor’s second marriage after previously saying ‘I do’ with first wife Norma. Their union lasted less than two years before they divorced in 2009 and they have daughter Shayla, nine, together.
