Udo Kier to receive German festival honour

German actor Udo Kier will be saluted at the Munich International Film Festival with the event’s International Personality Award. The movie veteran will be presented with the accolade, which recognises “an extraordinary personality in international cinema”, at a ceremony on 30 June (14).
Kier has enjoyed a career in film and TV spanning over 40 years and is known for his work as a vampire in Blade, Satan’s servant in Arnold Schwarzenegger’s End of Days and as a creepy john picking up rent boys in Gus van Sant’s My Own Private Idaho.
He is also a regular in films by director Lars von Trier and appeared in his latest controversial movie, Nymphomaniac.
The 32nd Munich Film Festival takes place from 27 June until 5 July (14).
