Unions: Nothing to fear from actors

Actors’ unions SAG and AFTRA issued a joint statement on Monday assuring their fellow members of the film and TV industries that “there is nothing to fear from actors.” It added, “We believe a deal which meets the unique needs of actors can and should be made on or before June 30,” the expiration date of the current contract. Negotiators, the statement continued, will focus on improving the lot of “middle-income on-camera principals … the many actors whose names audiences may not know, yet whose work is the backbone of the great American film and television business.”
