Vanessa Simmons feared dad Rev. Run’s reaction to pregnancy news

Actress Vanessa Simmons was racked with nerves as she prepared to break the news of her pregnancy to her minister father Rev. Run, because her child will be born out of wedlock. The Run-D.M.C. icon’s eldest daughter revealed her baby news to fans online this week (begs30Sep13), announcing that she and her boyfriend Mike Wayans, son of comedian Damon Wayans, were expecting a little girl.
However, Simmons admits she was dreading the reaction from her father.
She tells UsMagazine.com, “I was so nervous telling my dad at first being that I’m not married yet but he was very excited and is supportive 100 per cent. His concern is just that I’m happy. Both families are anxiously awaiting the arrival of the new baby girl. She’s coming into two huge families waiting to give her lots of love.”
The expectant mum has already started shopping for her baby, although she confesses the parents-to-be initially thought they would be having a son: “We are both very excited about the birth of our first child. We totally were expecting it to be (a) boy all along but got very surprised when we found out it was indeed a girl. I immediately went out and brought a cute (little) outfit for her right after the appointment.”
