Veronica Mars to become a literary sensation in new book deal

A new series of novels based on the Veronica Mars TV series is set to hit book stores to coincide with an upcoming movie project. Creator Rob Thomas launched a crowdsourcing initiative on website Kickstarter.com to raise funds for the film version of the cult TV show and fans flocked to donate cash to get the project off the ground.
Filming on the Veronica Mars movie, featuring almost all of the original TV cast, started earlier this month (Jul13), and now it appears Thomas’ show is to get the literary treatment too.
He will develop and co-write the books, which will feature the characters from his popular television series, for Vintage Books.
Thomas says, “I started my career as a novelist. Veronica Mars was first imagined as a novel. I’m thrilled that I’m going to get the opportunity to continue telling Veronica Mars stories in a form I’ve loved and missed.”
The books will contain completely new stories, and will be stand-alone novels that will “appeal to fans of the show, as well as general mystery readers”.
The first book will be released to coincide with the new Veronica Mars film, which is scheduled for release next year (14).
Veronica Mars ran from 2004 to 2007 and starred Kristen Bell as a student who moonlights as a private investigator.
