Videomakers take aim at One Direction over new promo

Bosses at an Australian video production company have taken aim at boy band One Direction, accusing them of ripping off an idea from one of their award-winning promos. The videomakers at Oh Yeah Wow claim a ‘freeze’ special effect in the British act’s new You & I promo is identical to one they used while working with Aussie band Clubfeet on their track Everything You Wanted last year (13).
The executives have posted both videos online with a Facebook message to fans of the bands and Fulwell 73, the production company behind One Direction’s promo, which premiered just days ago.
The note reads: “Dear friends. As you may already know, those money machines One Direction & the sneaky chimps at Fulwell 73 Productions have decided to rip off our music video for Clubfeet.
“We here at Oh Yeah Wow have become somewhat fed up with plagiarism and as such, have decided to write about it. If you feel a rage face coming on, please share this link with the world.”
The video they made for Clubfeet last year was named Australian Music Video of the Year at the Triple J Awards.
