Warrant issued for Chief Keef’s arrest

A warrant has been issued for Chief Keef’s arrest, adding to the rapper’s growing list of legal problems. The hip-hop star, real name Keith Cozart, failed to appear in court in Miami, Florida, in January (13) for a hearing relating to misdemeanour drug possession charges against after he was caught driving with marijuana on his person last August (12).
Keef could not attend because he was behind bars in Chicago, Illinois for violating the terms of his probation on a weapons conviction.
And now law officers in Miami have issued a warrant for the 17 year old’s arrest, though it will only be served if he returns to the city.
Miami-Dade Police Detective Javier Baez tells the Chicago Tribune, “We would not travel to Chicago for this type of warrant.”
This is the latest in a string of legal issues for the star – on Monday (17Jun13) he was taken into custody in Chicago on suspicion of trespassing, served with his second paternity suit in a year, and handed 60 hours of community service, a $531 (£343) fine and 18 months’ probation after pleading guilty to speeding charges.
