Weird Al Yankovic drops Michael Jackson parodies from upcoming summer tour

Weird Al Yankovic has dropped his Michael Jackson parodies for an upcoming orchestral tour because he doesn’t want to upset fans still reeling from the damning Leaving Neverland documentary.
The funnyman enjoyed hits with Jackson-themed tunes like Eat It and Fat, but he won’t be performing them on his Strings Attached Tour.
“I don’t know if that’s going to be permanent or not,” Yankovic tells Billboard, “but we just felt that with what’s happened recently with the HBO documentary, we didn’t want anybody to feel uncomfortable.
“I felt I had enough fan favourites in the show that I could get away with it. I haven’t gotten a lot of pushback. There have been some people who have expressed disappointment, but we decided to err on the side of not offending people.”
The HBO documentary featured two of Jackson’s child abuse accusers, who detailed their allegations against the late King of Pop. The film, directed by Dan Reed, debuted at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah back in January (19).
