Whoopi Goldberg calls cops on overzealous fan

The Ghost star was shopping in Dublin with her actress daughter Alex when she was approached by a man who asked to take a picture with her and became upset when she said no.

Goldberg shared her ordeal later that afternoon during her appearance at Trinity College Dublin, where she was handed an honorary membership of the university’s Philosophical Society.

She told students she prefers to shake fans’ hands because snapping photos draws crowds, joking, “Once I stop, it’s like Disneyland.”

She then added, “This guy stopped me and asked for a picture. I said, ‘No dude, I’m happy to shake your hand, but I can’t stop.’ (He said), ‘Just stop right now, just do it right now… I’m going to follow you wherever you go’.”

Goldberg and her daughter tried to escape into a shoe shop, but the man came after her and even told the star not to buy a pair of clogs she had picked out.

She says, “I really got p**sed off. At that point I had felt I had done enough as a famous person. You should acknowledge the people who give a s**t about you, but you are going to come into a place of business and start some stuff.

“I went and got the cops and that was the right way to do it. I got the cops not because he was a bonehead – because he was – but he forgot that it was my right to do what I was doing too.”
