The couple has been married since 1997, but the Hollywood stars regularly endure rumors of strife in their relationship. While they have never confirmed reports of a split, the rapper/actor has confessed they work hard at staying together though the help of a marriage counsellor.

“I’ve done a lot of marriage counseling,” Will tells the Britain’s The Sun newspaper. “What happens in a marriage once you do counseling, the truth comes out. And you sit across from your wife and you’ve said all of your truth and she has said all of her truth. You look at each other and you can’t imagine you could ever possibly love each other again now the truth is out.”

He continues, “It creates a dark moment. But for me it’s the dark before the dawn. When the truth comes out and people have to say who they are and what they think, you get to know who they are. I think that’s the cleansing before you get to the other side that is understanding and moving forward in our relationship.”

Will previously opened up about seeking professional help to U.S. news show Access Hollywood, insisting his years of solo spiritual counseling made him a better husband.

“Everything that you do that’s great is gonna be difficult and the most difficult part about a relationship is that it’s really not between two people… it’s between you and you. What Jada and I have learned is bettering ourselves individually is how you make a relationship work. Individual counseling… You get yourself together and present yourself to your partner in a higher spiritual and emotional state, and you’ll be surprised how much better things can go.”

Jada, the mother of Will’s kids Jaden and Willow, is the actor’s second wife – he was previously married to Sheree Zampino, with whom he has son Trey.
