Willem Dafoe Often Gets Mistaken for Mick Jagger

Willem Dafoe often gets mistaken for The Rolling Stones’ frontman Mick Jagger.

The 62-year-old actor was a guest on Late Night with Seth Meyers on Thursday night (25Jan18), when host Seth asked whether he’d ever been confused with other celebrities.

“Probably the best one, and the one that happens the most times – particularly when I’m thin – (is) Mick Jagger,” he replied. “And it’s always very enthusiastically, which is cool. I love Mick Jagger, I grew up with Mick Jagger. He’s cool.”

The Platoon star had the crowd in stitches as he impersonated the British singer’s iconic dance moves, and then went on to recount a particularly awkward encounter he once had on holiday.

“I was in some place in Italy, and I went to the toilet and heard the kitchen (staff) going ‘Mick Jagger, Mick Jagger,'” recalled Willem. “I got so scared they’d come out and ask me for an autograph or something. I didn’t know whether I could say no I’m not him, or just do it and get up before they ask me to dance or sing.”

Willem was on the show to talk about his recent Oscar nomination, received for his portrayal of hotel manager Bobby Hicks in The Florida Project. His Best Supporting Actor nod is the only category the movie has been nominated for at this year’s Academy Awards (18).
