Legendary moviemaker Wim Wenders has heaped praise on his latest leading man, James McAvoy, calling the Scottish actor the best of his generation.
Promoting his new film, Submergence, at the Toronto International Film Festival on Sunday (10Sep17), Wenders took a moment to salute the star of the movie and confess he felt lucky to be able to work with him.
“He’s the best actor of his generation,” the three-time Oscar nominee told reporters.
“He’s able to totally immerse in the project. He gave everything. He remained himself very much and also gave his part his whole heart and his imagination.”
McAvoy plays a kidnapped spy who falls in love with Oscar-winner Alicia Vikander’s character in the film, based on former war correspondent JM Ledgard’s book of the same name.
