Win Butler becomes a Canadian citizen

Arcade Fire rocker Win Butler has become a Canadian citizen.
The singer, who was born in California and raised in Texas, took to Instagram on Tuesday (09Jul19) to reveal he now holds dual citizenship, having settled in Montreal with his wife and bandmate Regine Chassagne almost two decades ago.
“Very Honored to finally be a Canadian Citizen,” he captioned a group photo from the ceremony, which included the presence of a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. “I’ve lived in Montreal for half my life, so it feels very natural to have both passports now!”
Commenting on his choice of denim shirt, jacket and jeans, the 39 year old added, “Had to wear the Canadian Tuxedo, and yes Mounties are real.”
He and Chassagne wed in 2003 and share a six-year-old son.
