Zazie Beetz pays emotional tribute to Deadpool 2 stunt double

Actress Zazie Beetz has broken her silence following the death of her Deadpool 2 stunt double Joi Harris by writing an emotional tribute on Instagram.
Harris, the first African American female professional road racer, was doubling for Zazie’s mutant character Domino during the shoot in Vancouver, Canada on Monday (14Aug17) when she lost control of her motorcycle and crashed through a plate glass window at Shaw Tower. Harris, who had not been wearing a helmet, reportedly died at the scene and the production was shut down.
Zazie broke her silence on Wednesday night by sharing a handwritten message on Instagram which read, “On Monday we tragically lost one of our own – Joi SJ Harris. My heart has been breaking the past two days and I have been searching what to say or do.
“I know that what I feel is nothing compared to what her loved ones, friends + family, are feeling. My heart and my love goes out to her and them all. The cast and crew send peace, healing, and their deepest condolences.”
The Atlanta actress and her co-star Ryan Reynolds, who plays Deadpool, were pictured back on the set earlier that day, when production resumed. According to reports, Ryan honoured Harris by leading a moment of silence with the cast and crew before filming began.
“Today, we tragically lost a member of our crew while filming Deadpool,” he tweeted after the accident. “We’re heartbroken, shocked and devastated… but recognise nothing can come close to the grief and inexplicable pain her family and loved ones must feel in this moment. My heart pours out to them – along with each and every person she touched in this world.”
British Columbia Coroners Service officials are still conducting an investigation into Harris’ death.
