24 Nights (1999)

Synopsis

What do you call a 24-year-old gay man who still believes in Santa Claus? In the film 24 Nights, you call him Jonathan Parker. Jonathan met a Salvation Army Santa when he was four years old, and the experience had so profound an effect that he's never lost his unwavering faith in Saint Nick. But what was charming at age four seems a bit odd 20 years on; these days, Jonathan is a college dropout working in a gay bookstore in New York; he lives with his sister and spends his spare time smoking marijuana and writing letters to Santa. When Jonathan meets Tony, a good-looking man who has started working at the bookstore, he's head over heels in love, convinced that Tony is the dream man sent to him by Santa. However, Jonathan now has to convince Tony -- not to mention Tony's live-in boyfriend. The directorial debut from Kieran Turner, 24 Nights was shown at the 1999 Santa Barbara Film Festival.
