Synopsis

Three people wait at a train station and look for a way to escape the horror of their daily lives in this Turkish drama set in Anatolia circa 1921, during Turkey's War of Independence. The story is based upon the two act play The Traveler by exiled author Nazim Hikmet. The group consists of the serious stationmaster, his wife, and a disabled switchman. They do not like each other much, but they are united by their desire to leave the death and destruction behind. When an enigmatic soldier arrives, he breaks up the trio.
