West Wing creator Aaron Sorkin, arrested April 15 at California's Burbank Airport on drug possession charges, will enter a court-supervised drug treatment program, Reuters reports. Sorkin plead guilty to the two felony counts and one misdemeanor count with which he had been charged, changing an earlier not guilty plea so that he could receive admission to the "Deferred Entry of Judgment" program. There will be no entry of this incident on Sorkin's record if he successfully completes the program. If he fails to complete the program, Sorkin could receive up to 44 months in prison and a fine of no more than $10,000. Sandi Gibbons, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, said the program would run for 24 months.
Hank Ketcham, the 81-year-old creator of the comic strip Dennis the Menace, died of a heart attack late Thursday night at his home in Carmel, Calif., according to Reuters. Ketcham gained fame 50 years ago for his depictions of a trouble-making 5-year-old who terrorized neighbors. Ketcham was battling cancer in the days leading to his death.
