D.N.I. (1989)

D.N.I. (1989)

Synopsis

Among the Peronistas, or people who passionately advocated the government of Juan Peron, were a number of highly nationalistic theoretical Marxists, who opposed free enterprise and free trade. For them, the last few years of his government were a betrayal of his espoused revolutionary principles. Peron was in power from 1946 to 1955 and again from 1973 to his death in 1974. In this film, the notion is that Juan Peron was the victim of some very elaborate political dirty tricks which forced him into a pro-business, pro-foreign trade mode of operation. It is difficult to determine whether this is a pure political tract, a documentary with a strong political point of view, or an elaborate political allegory in dramatic form. What is certain is that events from the period of Peron's rulership are symbolically re-enacted for the camera.
