Synopsis
A brief encounter has dangerous consequences for two lovers in this drama from Russian filmmaker Ivan Vyrypaev. Vera (Polina Agureyeva) and Pakha (Maxim Ushakov) first met at a joyous and boozy wedding reception, and when their eyes met it's love at first sight. The fact that Pahka is much younger than Vera doesn't matter to him, and she isn't about to let the fact she's married to Valery (Mikhail Okunev) keep her away from the handsome young man. The two begin meeting at a secret trysting place near the river, where only the water, the trees and the animals can see them. However, Valery begins to sense that something is wrong, and as his relationship with Vera slowly collapses, he needs to know why. When he realizes that Vera has been having an affair with Pakha, what began as mad love ends in tragic circumstances for everyone involved. Ejforija (aka Euphoria) received its world premier at the 2006 Venice Film Festival.
