Flucht Nach Berlin (2001)

Flucht Nach Berlin (2001)

Synopsis

Thrills and chills dominate this low-budget, first-time effort by director Will Tremper, a political drama set in East Germany featuring two men and a woman. Hermann (Narziss Sokatscheff) lives in a small village with other farmers who all agree they are not about to buckle under and join the commune-style system set up for them by the USSR. Clause Baade (Christian Doermer) is one of the men sent into the village to bring everyone to heel. Clashes ensue, and Hermann takes off for Berlin with escape to the West uppermost on his mind. Soon Clause has a falling-out with the Party, and before long, he and Hermann and a reporter, Doris Lange (Suzanne Korda), meet up just before Berlin and a shot at liberty looms ahead.
